We moved into our apartment on January 2nd, and immediately began the unpacking process. My inner organizational demon came out that day and I refused to go to bed until everything was in its place. A few days later Darren ran an errand and when he got home he pulled me just outside our front door to see this beautiful sunset.
We've had our challenging moments with this apartment, as it seems to have quite the personality, but we've learned how to deal with it. It was furnished for us by the management company, and we think the previous owners of everything were smokers...we used 1.5 bottles of Febreze in our first week here and now have a Glade Scented Oil plugged into the wall 24/7. We also had a finicky toilet that decided to clog at least once a day for about two weeks. We got it fixed one Sunday night with the help of a handy-dandy 24 hour plumbing company.
We are so grateful for a place to live while we are here, and know that we will miss these simple days down the road :)
Here's our living room! We put that "C" up on the wall to replace a HUGE picture of two indians riding horses in the desert.
Our dining room and kitchen. (My sewing machine lives in the corner while it's not taking up space on that table)
Our bedroom. (The indian picture is now hiding under the bed)
It's small, but cozy. Since I haven't been able to find a job, I decided about a month ago that I would put my sewing machine to good use and spruce up our apartment a little by making some curtains and throw pillows for our living room!
Our living room window curtains! I am half-way done with a matching set for the kitchen window.
Our matching throw pillows! These were the most frustrating, but I love them now.
I have tons of ideas in my head for future projects, but those will have to wait until we have some money :)
