Christmas in Virginia

After our whirlwind of a honeymoon, Darren and I got up bright and early and spent all day the 23rd on flights from San Jose to Washington, DC. I was SO happy to be back home. It had snowed a foot or more about four days before, so it was just beautiful. Christmas Eve and Christmas day we spent around the house with my family and had fun just relaxing. It was so fun to open gifts with everyone and I seem to forget how hilarious things can get with all of my siblings. (We missed you Trish and Chuck!)

The day after Christmas my brother Justin took Darren, Sarah and I to the National Museum of the United States Marine Corps. I had been before with Justin, but I loved being able to show Darren the history behind something that has been such big part of my life. And my brother was able to give us some personal insight into it as well.

We had planned on going into DC on Monday, but I came down with a pretty bad throat infection over the weekend, so that had to be kaboshed. Maybe next time. Our open house was Tuesday night, but I'll make a separate post about that.

We had to head back to California on the 30th, and it was not fun to leave my family. Darren and I had such a great time with them and can't wait for a time when we can go back.
