One Year Older, and Wiser Too

I celebrated my 26th birthday on Tuesday! Sad, that I'm now closer to 30 than 20. Oh, well. It was a great day. Darren made me pancakes for breakfast, which I love. He even got creative and made them in the shape of a heart. Too cute. We then headed out to run some errands and had lunch at home. I got to talk to my parents, all of my brothers and sisters, and my dad's parents. I loved it.

Darren then surprised me with dinner at my favorite restaurant, Olive Garden.

We ate WAY too much, but I loved every minute of it. He spoiled me even more when we got home and I opened my gifts. He got me the movie Blindside (which we saw on our honeymoon), a San Francisco Giants hat, and a Giants t-shirt.

It'll be fun to wear them both to a game this summer. We finished off the night by having some wonderful birthday cake and ice cream! Darren made his first cake ever (I was shocked) and did a great job. It was chocolate with chocolate frosting, which is the only cake that anyone should have in my book.

It was a great day, and I'm blessed to have such a wonderful husband to spend my birthday with.

We're Back!

We are back in California now! Darren finished his sub job on May 27th and found out he would have absolutely nothing to do on the 28th if he went in, so we opted to leave early Friday morning instead of waiting until that afternoon after his job ended. We don't get paid for that day, but we made it back to Hughson about 9:30pm on Friday the 28th.

We spent the next morning unloading and unpacking all of our stuff. We managed to find a place for everything we won't be using for the next few months, and still had room for our clothes in our closet. Score.

We then headed up to Salida to spend the weekend with Darren's family. We hung out Saturday, went to church on Sunday and then had a double birthday and graduation party for Darren, Jenny, Eric & I. It was fun to be back with family. Monday we had planned on heading back down to Hughson to swim and barbecue, but that didn't really work out so we all barbecued at Darren's parents' house and played games. Still just as fun for me :)

Darren and I are now on the job hunt, and hoping that something will come of it in the next week or two. We are still looking for a teaching job for the Fall as well, but it's great to be back and close to family and friends. We'd missed everyone!
