Rackham Reunion - Day 3

Today we got up bright and early and attended Sacrament meeting with the Mt. Rushmore Ward.

IMGP4659

We got there with about 10-15 minutes to spare, and sat down. While we were sitting and waiting, a man walked into the chapel and up onto the stand. My dad looked at him, and then at me, and said, "That's Brother Schmidtlein!" What in the world?! We go all the way to Rapid City, South Dakota and my dad runs into someone he knows. And it's been 15 years since he's seen him! Turns out the Schmidtlein family was in our branch in Okinawa, Japan. He is now the Stake President for that area in South Dakota, and we happened to be attending his family's home ward. Crazy small world...

After church we headed back to the hotel, got changed, and raced down to the breakfast room for the final round of the dominoes tournament.

Dallin, Ben and Jared

When all was said and done, Dallin emerged victorious! He was then presented the championship trophy by our aunt Rochelle.

After Dallin took his trophy back to his room we all piled in the car and headed off to a local park for lunch and socailizing.

After we all finished eating Grandma had a little presentation for each of her kids, told some family stories, and introduced our next reunion.

After Grandma's time, Craig's family had to get on the road back to Missouri/Iowa. It was getting pretty hot so the rest of us decided to head back and congregate at Grandma and Grandpa's hotel later that evening. It was quite entertaining to try and fit almost 30 people in a small suite. After a while we had to say our goodbyes, since we're leaving early in the morning. Turns out we left at a good time...some neighbors got upset with all of us Rackhams being a little too loud and called hotel security. Uh oh.

It was so much fun to be together as an extended family, and we were sad to see it come to an end. We can't wait for 2014!
