Part 11: Nationals vs. Giants

July 3, 2012

Early into the baseball season Darren noticed that the Giants would be in town visiting the Nats over July 4th. He immediately wanted to go, especially when he realized they'd be doing fireworks after, and it was not hard to get my family in on it as well.

We headed down to the park in the early evening, so we could beat traffic and have plenty of time to find our seats.

Timmy Lincecum started for the Giants.

Jordan Zimmermann started for the Nats.

The presidents raced in the 4th inning...

We had a great time watching the game, even though it was super hot and muggy. I had to get some ice chips to suck on because I was overheating to the extreme and my water wouldn't stay cold.

Darren wore his Giants garb, and I wore my Nats hat. A family divided.

I can't remember what inning, but probably about halfway though the game rain started coming down like crazy and they called the teams off the field. It was a bummer, but we hoped it wouldn't last long.

After a while, they put this message up on the jumbo screen:

Uh, duh.

We stayed for a little over an hour and then my parents decided it was time to go. Darren was really bummed since he really wanted to see the fireworks. We did get to see this cool view of the moon though:

We made almost all the way home before the game started again and got to watch the rest in air-conditioned comfort. I think the Nats ended up winning, but it was fun to be at a game. Hopefully we'll have better luck next year!
