May Photo Dump

May was an interesting month. On the first we found out Darren lost his job for the coming school year, only to have it back exactly a week later. We're so glad the rest of the month went smoothly, because that was one crazy week!

Hayden continues to grow and make us laugh more each day. He loves to be read to and finds the funniest things to play with. Enjoy!

All snuggled up and ready for his show!

Isn't this how everyone eats a cookie??

April

Life seems to be more and more exciting the older this guy gets. He is learning new things almost every day and making us laugh hysterically all the time.

Here are some of my favorite moments from the month...

Put on my shoes and decided to walk/dance around

One of Daddy's shoes

He loves to take the silverware basket from the dishwasher and carry it around the house, filling it with little treasures

His pacifier got hooked around the ark after his nap one day. He wasn't totally awake, poor guy, and had a hard time handling the situation. Darren just busted out the camera without helping...

He loves to stand IN his car :)

In other news, I finally got around to finishing a project I've been wanting to do for a long time.

All four states we've lived in since we've been married...I love it!

18 Months

Is he really 1 1/2 now?! Crazy...

Height: 30 1/2"
Weight: 21 lb 14 oz

At 18 months Hayden:
  • is starting to talk! animals sounds are his forte, along with "no, no, no", "car", "ball", "bird", "bath", "dog", "cow", "shoes", "dada", "bye", "hi". he also signs more, eat, all done, and please.
  • loves to eat
  • loves to read
  • takes one nap a day, and it's usually 2-2 1/2 hours long
  • is still loving balls and wheels (he is all boy)
  • has had one hair cut, but is in need of another
  • still wears some 12 month pants, but is almost completely in 18 month clothes
  • still wearing size 3 diapers
  • loves to splash in the bath, but is hating being dried off these days
  • has 11 teeth (as of yesterday), with his last 1 year molar inching it's way closer
  • loves to be outside (so much so that he will throw epic fits if he has to come in before he's ready)
  • doesn't sleep with a pillow, but he loves to play with them during the day
  • likes to knock on all the doors in the house
  • is quite the helper when we unload the dishwasher, he pulls those plates out so darn fast
  • is starting to do somersaults - he did one by accident the other day and thought it was hilarious, so he tries to do one again often
  • loves nursery (we took him a week early - shhhh, don't tell)
  • makes everyone fall in love with him everywhere we go :)

Easter

Easter Sunday was at the end of Darren's Spring Break this year. We had already spent a few days at my parents', so we opted to spend Easter morning at our place and then headed back down for Easter dinner.

While dinner was cooking we took Hayden out for a little egg hunt in the front yard. He had fun!

My cousin Andrew is stationed in North Carolina right now and was able to come up for the weekend. It was great to see him and get to know him better!

Just missing Trish and Patrick!

Spring Break Baseball

We went to our first Nats' game of the season on the 17th, right in the middle of Spring Break. We had great seats (thanks Johnny and Chelsie!!), and had a fun time catching up with cousins. The only thing we wish was better was the final score, and the weather. It was SO cold!!!

Great Country Farms

A few months ago one of Darren's schools had a silent auction fundraiser. We put a bid on a family membership to Great Country Farms, out in Bluemont. Lucky us, we won! It was still a steal, so we were excited.

Their opening weekend was the 5th & 6th, and they had egg hunts for the kids along with a visit from the Easter bunny. Hayden's age group had the first hunt, so we headed out bright and early Saturday morning. The hunt was kind of a bust (WAY too many kids), but he seemed to have fun anyway.

After the hunt we spent some time wandering the farm and enjoying being outside for the first time with no snow!

They have a ton of animals to see. Hayden wasn't really thrilled with any of them...

We hope to get back there a few more times before the season ends in October. We had a great time!

First Sunday of Nursery!!

This kid is finally in Nursery! And we are so excited :) We actually left him today, a week early, but he was SO ready. I'd been taking him in for a couple months and just staying with him, because it was useless to try and go to class. This kid is active!!

We tried to get a good picture before church, but he just wanted to run...oh well.
