Little Girls...

Baby girls seem to be popping up all around me and I am absolutely loving it! I got to make cute little bows for my sister-in-law last year, and I'm in the process of doing some flowers/bows for a girlfriend of mine:

I love being able to have something fun to do, but I better be able to make some for a little girl of my own one day. Statistically the odds don't look good, but with one Capell girl and another on the way the odds are getting better! Too bad it's a few years off for us...

Happy Easter!

We hope you all had a great Easter Sunday. We sure did. Darren wore a new purple plaid tie with matching socks, and I finally got around to wearing a new dress that I bought back in March. We opted against a nice breakfast and just had cereal. We didn't want really a repeat of last year's breakdown :)

After church we relaxed for a little bit, and then got right into dinner preparations. While dough was rising and potatoes were cooking we got to dying our Easter eggs. Things went much better this year!

We had a great time dying eggs, and an even better time looking at how cool they turned out with our $2 "Camo" kit from Winco. 

We had quite the delicious dinner as well: ham, jello, homemade rolls, and scalloped potatoes from scratch. We are quite the cooks now! 

Now that the food is all put away, (our cookies for dessert are awaiting us on the counter) and the dishes are washed we're back to relaxing and are just enjoying our evening together before we get back to the grind tomorrow. Hopefully this last week of April will bring some hint that Spring/Summer is coming eventually...

Earth Day...

Happy Earth Day! This is what I woke up to this morning...

I could've sworn that it was Spring and that the snow has been commanded to stop. Mother Nature better be just playing some dirty trick today, because I will be one unhappy lady if Summer never comes to us here in Idaho...

Early birds get the...swimsuit!

Darren and I have been really good at sticking to a budget since we've been married, but that has meant that we haven't spent much on "us" in the last year and a half. I'd been eyeing a swimsuit at Old Navy (a cute one-piece!) the past few weeks and we finally decided last weekend that we had the financial room to have a little fun.

We went over to the mall earlier this week, but were sad to find that they didn't have the suit I wanted in my size. I knew they had it online, so we headed home and placed our order. I had a coupon for $10 off $50 so Darren even got to get new swim shorts! It all came to about $46 (with free shipping since the pre-discount price was over 50), so I was pretty happy.

I got a bit disappointed on Thursday when I got an email from Old Navy saying their swimsuits were going to be 60% off on Saturday from 7am - 11am. Bummer dude! We just bought ours and wouldn't even have a receipt to do a price adjustment until next week, after the sale was over. I did a little thinking though, and we decided to go in this morning and look anyway. If they had what we ordered, we'd get it on sale and then return the ones we ordered later in the week.

We got up bright and early (6:30) and were the 2nd ones in the store. They didn't have my size still, so I looked at a few other things and settled on a black tankini and Darren got his previously ordered swim shorts. Our total came to $25 for everything, a savings of $30!

After we return Darren's second pair of shorts for full-price (Darren says I'm keeping both of my suits) our total for everything will be: $55. That's less than $20 for each suit. Too bad they didn't have the one-piece today, but it still felt good to get such a good deal!

Weekend in Utah, Part 2

Saturday morning we got up bright and early, checked out of our hotel and made our way up to Salt Lake to be in the Conference Center for the morning session of General Conference. We were running a little late since we had to park a bit further than expected, but we made it inside with a few minutes to spare. We were pleasantly surprised to see that our seats were so close! (Thanks Dianna for the hook-up!)

Our walk back to the car was a little slower, and thank goodness since my feet were killing me! We didn't pack for warm weather, which we got on Saturday, so I was wearing my 3 inch heeled boots which killed my feet on our power walk earlier that morning. I was very grateful to get back in the car and change my shoes.

After conference we headed down to Provo to meet up with Trish and Charles for lunch. It was so good! We ate at this pizza place down in the Riverwoods:

They had such a variety of pizzas, salads, pastas and even dessert pizzas! It was nice to sit and chat with the Bogus-Rackhams (haha!) and have some delish pizza in the process. We stayed for proabaly a good hour and a half, and then we went our separate ways. We were able to find a Borders store in the same shopping center and FINALLY got to use our gift cards from Christmas. Darren and I both found great books that we are flying through.

Since we were down in Provo we headed over to the BYU Bookstore to see if we could find anything that would help us be more a part of "Jimmermania". Unfortunately nothing had his name attached to it, so we just browsed and then left. We took a little drive around campus and ended up at what used to be Deseret Towers. A few years ago they tore them all down, which was a sad day. Coincidentally my dad and I both lived on the same floor of the same building. We both had great times in DT. What I was surprised to see though, was that there are new buildings going up in their place:

This building stands where V Hall (where I lived) used to be. I looked them up and they will look like this when they are finished: 

A vast improvement I would say! Too bad these weren't there 10 years ago...

Moving on...after my trip down memory lane we headed out to Cedar Hills to meet up with the Walkers so Darren could head out to Priesthood session with Uncle Andy and Johnny. I didn't really know what to do with myself, so I hung around and ended up tagging along with Aunt DeAnn, Brittany, Dianna and Carolyn for dinner. It was so much fun! We went to Zupas and then headed over to Carolyn's to watch Tangled. It was SUCH a cute movie and I'm going to make Darren watch it one of these days. Muah ha ha.

It was quite the busy day, but we made up for it on Sunday by relaxing and eating way too much. We had originally planned on leaving on Sunday evening, but an job opportunity opened up at a high school close by so we stayed one more night so Darren could stop by the next day and drop off his resume. An added bonus is that we didn't have to drive in the snow that just kept coming down all day.

We had a great time with the Walkers, and enjoyed the easy drive back to Idaho Falls on Monday. We only wish we had more time to take little trips like this.

Weekend in Utah, Part 1

Since Darren and I both had last week off we decided to head down to Utah for Conference Weekend. We headed down Thursday morning, stopped in Arimo to visit with his grandparents for a few hours, and then drove down to Lehi where we spent the night.

It was so nice to get out of Idaho for a few days. Friday we slept in, enjoyed our free breakfast at the hotel, got ready for the day and headed out to lunch. It was such a nice day that we headed over to Quiznos, got our sandwiches to go and ate outside. After we ate Darren decided to give me the "tour" of Lehi and we made our way to the first stop: Grandma Walker's house.

It was fun to see where Darren spent quite a bit of time as a kid and to hear a few of the stories he has from his trips to Grandma's.

Next we headed over to the cemetary in Lehi to visit Grandma and Grandpa Walker's graves. When we pulled in I noticed that there was an "Honor Wall". Darren's grandfather served in the Navy, so we walked over there first to see if, by chance, his name was listed. We got lucky!

We spent a few more minutes at the Honor Wall and then walked over to their gravesites. It was neat to be there. Darren's grandfather died a few months before he was born, but he has a lot of stories about his Grandmother. I wish I would have been able to meet her...someday!
 

We stayed for a little bit, and then we headed back on the "tour". Our last destination was the park in Lehi. Darren says they spent a lot of time there as kids when they came out to visit. It was fun to see where Darren spent time as a kid.

After our "tour" we headed back to the hotel and relaxed. It was so nice to just spend time together. About 5pm we headed up to Salt Lake to go to Darren's mission reunion! We got there right at 6, but no one else showed up (besides his mission president and those hosting it) until almost 6:30. It was neat to meet President and Sister Platt and a few people that Darren served with on his mission. I think Darren had the most fun though when is favorite companion, Scott Russell, arrived with his family. They share some sort of special bond. There was so much laughing going on and it was really fun to see. I only wish we would have gotten some pictures!

After the reunion we headed back down to Lehi so we could get up early on Saturday and head back up to Salt Lake for General Conference!
